Wildfires at Killarney National Park are starting to come under control as firefighters battle the blazes for a third day.
The Irish Air Corps has dropped almost 90 thousand litres of water on the gorse fires which broke out on Friday night.
The Irish Wildlife Trust is calling for a full investigation into the fire which has led to the destruction of 2 thousand hectares of woodland.
Minister of State at the Department of Heritage Malcolm Noonan hopes the fires will be fully extinguished today:
Minister of State Malcolm Noonan along with the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O'Brien are in Killarney National Park this afternoon.
They're meeting with staff from the National Parks and Wildlife Service and members of the fire service who worked through the weekend to try and bring the fire under control.
The ministers are also due to give a press conference in Killarney this afternoon.
