The official opening of a €2 million flood relief scheme in North Kerry marks a significant milestone for residents who’ve experienced flooding many times in recent years.
That's according to Minister of State for the Office of Public Works Kevin Boxer Moran, who opened the Clieveragh Flood Relief Scheme in Listowel this afternoon.
The works were completed by Kerry County Council and the Office of Public Works, and will protect 57 properties at risk from flooding in the area.
The Clieveragh area experienced significant flooding on several occasions between 2009 and 2023 and the OPW says this scheme will provide a high standard of flood protection for the residents.

The design for the Clieveragh Flood Relief Scheme started in 2001 and the project was delivered in three phases.
Work on phase two began in February last year, with the final two phases being delivered in under two years.
