Media attention on Nicola Sturgeon did not overshadow Listowel Writers' Week

Nicola Sturgeon’s appearance at Listowel Writers’ Week has not overshadowed the festival.

That’s according to the event’s literary curator Máire Logue.

Scotland’s former First Minister along with author Andrew O’Hagan selected the shortlist for this year’s Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year Award for this year’s festival.

Coincidentally, this week Ms Sturgeon’s former husband pleaded guilty this week to embezzling over 400 thousand pounds sterling from the Scottish National Party.

Máire Logue says Nicola Sturgeon addressed the controversy when she  spoke at a Writers’ Week event yesterday.

Máire Logue thanked Nicola Sturgeon for the time she’s given to support Writers’ Week.

She also commented on the UK media’s descent on Listowel as they sought to interview Scotland’s former First Minister.
