A man is recovering in University Hospital Limerick following an incident on the Tarbert to Killimer Ferry this morning.
The man went overboard at around 10am, and the ferry was stopped mid estuary.
Gardaí in Listowel, Valentia Coast Guard, Ballybunion Sea and Cliff Rescue and Fenit RNLI assisted Kilrush RNLI and the Kilkee Coastguard, to find the man, who was found swimming not far from Tarbert's ESB power station.
The man has been brought to University Hospital Limerick via Rescue 117, where he is being treated for severe hypothermia.
The search operation has been stood down, and normal ferry services have resumed.
