Man rescued in multidisciplinary operated after going overboard on Tarbert ferry

Search and rescue organisations from Kerry were part of a successful multidisciplinary operation after a man went overboard on the the Tarbert to Killimer ferry earlier this morning.

The incident took place around 10am, and the ferry was stopped mid estuary as the search took place.

Gardaí in Listowel, Valentia Coast Guard, Ballybunion Sean and Cliff Rescue and Fenit RNLI assisted Kilrush RNLI and the Kilkee Coastguard, to find the man, who was found swimming not far from where he entered the water.

The man has been brought to University Hospital Limerick via Rescue 117, where he is being treated for severe hypothermia.
