A man remains in garda custody this lunchtime, in relation to the investigation into the murder of Michael Gaine.
The man, who is aged in his 50s, was arrested in Tralee at around 7.30 this morning, and continues to be questioned.
Gardaí have not named the man but Radio Kerry has learned that he is US citizen Michael Kelley.
Last May, Mr Kelley was arrested as part of the garda investigation, was questioned and released without charge.
Michael Gaine was last seen in Kenmare on March 20th last year and a missing persons investigation was launched.
The case was upgraded to a homicide investigation in late April.
The dismembered remains of the 56-year-old farmer were discovered while slurry was being spread on the farmland in Carrig East in May.
An Garda Síochána have examined over 2,000 hours of CCTV footage, conducted more than 300 formal inquiries and taken over 100 witness statements during the investigation.
This morning a man in his 50s was arrested for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
It’s understood he was taken to Castleisland Garda Station, where he remains this afternoon.
A property in Tralee was searched with a number of Gardaí removing boxes and bags shortly before 10am.
Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 gives An Garda Síochána powers to detain and question someone for up to six hours.
A senior officer can extend this for another six hours if needed, for a total of twelve hours; this does not include rest periods.
Garda Press Office says the investigation led by Serious Crime Unit Kerry Division has been and continues to be supported by the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI).
An Garda Síochána through family liaison officers continue to liaise with and support the family of Micheal Gaine.
Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
