A man charged with the false imprisonment of a woman in North Kerry will appear before Listowel District Court on Thursday.
22-year-old Muhammed Ahsan appeared before Cork District court facing four charges.
It’s alleged that at approximately 3.20am on Sunday at Clieveragh Road Listowel, that Muhammed Ahsan falsely imprisoned a woman in his car.
He also faces an endangerment charge, which alleges the front passenger door of a car was opened as the car merged onto the main road and was done in the knowledge the passenger was hanging out of the vehicle.
Mr Ahsan is further charged with the theft of a phone and dangerous driving in the early hours of Sunday morning (September 28th).
He appeared before Judge Mary Dorgan at Cork District Court.
The case was heard in Cork because there were no sittings of the District court in Kerry today.
Detective Garda Shane O’Driscoll of Listowel Garda Station gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution and told the court the accused responded “no” to each of the four charges.
Defence solicitor Brendan Ahern said his client was not applying for bail today but would be making an application when the case is heard again.
Judge Dorgan ordered that Mr Ahsan’s address not be published and for the alleged victim in the case not to be identified.
An application for the provision of an Urdu interpreter was granted.
The Judge remanded Mr Ahsan in custody to appear before Listowel District Court on Thursday.
