A man arrested on suspicion of the murder of Michael Gaine, remains in Garda custody this evening.
The man, who is aged in his 50s, was arrested yesterday afternoon.
Michael Gaine was last seen in Kenmare on March 20th and a missing persons investigation was launched.
The investigation was upgraded to a homicide at the end of April and over the weekend Mr Gaine’s land was declared a crime scene after partial human remains were found.
Gardaí say DNA testing is needed to formally identify the recovered human remains; this is expected to take a period of time.

Gardaí can question the man for up to 24 hours, however, this doesn’t include rest periods.
