A man accused of deceiving an elderly Killorglin man out of almost €10,000 has taken up bail.
20-year-old Noah Jake Woolley, with an address at New Road, Belper Amber Valley, Derbyshire, UK, appeared before a recent sitting of Tralee District Court.
Mr Woolley faces two charges; dishonestly, by deception inducing a man to withdraw €9,500 in cash from his bank account with the intention of making a gain, and a charge of attempt to commit theft, contrary to common law.
The court previously heard that Mr Woolley attempted to collect money from an elderly man in Killorglin on Friday 15th May, after persuading him to withdraw the money by deception.
Gardaí told an earlier sitting the accused had a substantial amount of cash on him when arrested, and they suspect there may be more injured parties.
Mr Woolley had been remanded in custody with consent to bail, and Tralee District Court heard he has now taken up that bail.
Judge David Waters questioned whether the residency requirement was being complied with, and Mr Woolley’s solicitor Pádraig O’Connell said he would not have been released on bail if the residence he provided for bail wasn’t approved.
Mr Woolley was further remanded to Cahersiveen District Court on 11th June, for directions from the DPP.
