Man appears before Killarney District Court charged with attempted theft and deception

A man has appeared before a special sitting of Killarney District Court charged with attempted theft and deception.

20-year-old Noah Jake Woolley with an address at New Road, Belper Amber Valley, Derbyshire, UK was charged with two offences relating to the incident which occurred in Killorglin on Friday.

He was represented by solicitor Padraig O'Connell.

The court heard Mr.Woolley had been caught trying to collect €9,500 from an elderly man after persuading him by means of deception.

Gardaí also said the accused had “a substantial amount of cash” in his possession and suspect that there there were more injured parties.

Mr.Woolley was remanded in custody with consent to bail, and is due to appear before Tralee District Court next Wednesday.
