A man accused of damaging multiple cars and unlawfully taking one in Tralee will ask the court to grant him bail this week.
32-year-old Volodomyr Vorobiov, of 10 Ocean View, Portmagee, faces a total of 12 charges.
Ten of these relate to one day of alleged offending in Tralee, on 8th October.
It’s alleged that on 8th October, Mr Vorobiov damaged the windows of two cars on Upper Rock Street, and the front passenger window of one car on Brewery Road.
He faces two counts of possession of an item to damage property at St Brendan’s Park on that date; that being an iron bar and scissors.
He’s further charged with the unlawful seizure of a vehicle on 8th October, namely a white Audi A3 at St Brendan’s Park, Tralee; this charge alleges that the vehicle was taken by force, threat, or intimidation.
Mr Vorobiov is also charged with the robbery of a set of car keys from a woman in St Brendan’s Park on that date, then taking her vehicle without consent, and then driving that car dangerously at Dromtacker, Tralee.
He faces one count of possession of an offensive weapon, namely a steel bar, which was made or adapted to cause injury or incapacitate a person, at St Brendan’s Park on that date.
The final two charges against Mr Vorobiov are from 24th April this year; they are two counts of dangerous driving.
District Court judge David Waters had already refused jurisdiction in the case, meaning he will be tried in a higher court.
At Tralee District Court recently, his solicitor Brendan Ahern said his instructions are that he is to apply for bail.
He said he is putting the state on notice of that, and will have a report from Mr Vorobiov’s GP.
Judge Waters said he is entitled to apply for bail, and that will be heard tomorrow.
