Máirín Quill has been remembered as a proud Kerry woman who never forgot her roots.
The former TD and Senator, who was originally from Gortloughera in Kilgarvan, has passed away at the age of 89.
Alongside Des O’Malley and Mary Harney, she set up the Progressive Democrats in 1985.
Ms Quill served as a TD for the Cork North-Central constituency between 1987 and 1997, before serving a term in Seanad Éireann.
Independent councillor for the Kenmare Municipal District, Dan McCarthy says Máirín Quill always had home in her heart.
Minister of State Michael Healy-Rae was a neighbour to the Quill family and shared his fond memories of Máirín.
