There’s been a huge rise in flu cases in Kerry this month, according to new figures.
The data from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre shows there were 136 recorded cases of the flu in Kerry between 6th and 13th December.
This is more than twice the number of flu cases in the first week of December (60), while the rate of incidence per 100,000 population has also increased sharply to 86.9, up from 38.3.
Just seven other counties had a higher number of cases or a higher rate of incidence last week.
The flu vaccine is still available, with walk-in clinics in Kerry over the Christmas period.
More information is available on radiokerry.ie.
There will be walk-in clinics at Killarney SouthDoc on Monday 22nd December from 11am to 3pm, and at the vaccination clinic in Monavalley Tralee on Monday 29th December from 10am to 2pm.
Vaccinations are also available at many pharmacies, with full details here.
