Knocknagree National School has been announced as the winner of Radio Kerry’s Jessie Buckley Weekend competition.
The school was selected as the winner of the €1,000 prize for its video message showing support for Jessie Buckley ahead of the Oscars ceremony.
Listeners were invited to send creative good-luck wishes to Jessie as part of the initiative, which was run in conjunction with National Tertiary Office partners MTU and Kerry College.

The video from Knocknagree National School, which is on the Kerry/Cork border, included a tongue-in-cheek slant on the healthy rivalry between the two counties.
Teacher Esther O’Connell, who taught in Loreto National School while Jessie was a pupil there, explains how she came up with the idea for the video:
