A man has been sent forward to stand trial in relation to the seizure of over €1 million worth of drugs in Knocknagoshel.
43-year-old Peter Collins of Knocknagoshel village was served with the book of evidence at Tralee District Court.
He faces three charges in relation to the seizure of over 50kg of cannabis in February last year.
Peter Collins appeared in person before Judge David Waters on Wednesday, where he was served with the book of evidence by the state.
The father-of-four faces three charges arising from a joint operation by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the Kerry Divisional Drugs Unit on February 1st 2024, when over €1.1million worth of drugs were seized.
He is charged with the possession of cannabis, and possession of the drug for sale or supply, which are both contrary to the Misuse of Drugs Act.
It’s also alleged that Mr Collins was in possession of cannabis for sale or supply, while the value of the drug was greater than €13,000, contrary to Section 15A of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
At Tralee District Court, Sergeant Chris Manton told the judge that the DPP has consented to send the accused forward to trial or on a signed plea.
Mr Collins solicitor, Pat Mann applied for continuing bail, which was granted subject to existing conditions.
He was provided with an alibi notice – whereby if he plans to provide alibi evidence at trial, 14 days notice must be given to the state upon service of the book of evidence.
Judge Waters sent Mr Collins forward to stand trial or on a signed plea to the next sitting of Tralee Circuit Criminal Court.
