A Killarney man has described meeting the late Pope Francis as a wonderful and uplifting experience.
Johnny McGuire from Killarney and the late Monsignor Pádraig Ó Fiannachta from West Kerry were in Rome on a tour commemorating the life of Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty in 2014.
Monsignor Ó Fiannachta was using a wheelchair at the time, and he and Mr McGuire were in St Peter’s Square when guards told them to go to a special chapel for a papal blessing.
They were shocked to meet Pope Francis, who came down from the altar and spoke to everyone in attendance.
