Killarney householders facing eviction due to protest today

A protest by Killarney householders facing eviction will be taking place today.

The residents of Loreto Chapel estate have joined forces with CATU, the Community Action Tenants Union.

Up to 35 people, including 15 children, are facing eviction from Cypriot property company, Xerico Limited.

The evictions are entirely legal, with no suggestion by the tenants that the landlords have done anything illegal.

They are protesting this afternoon at 1 o’clock in Market Cross, Killarney.

The tenants are calling on the government to provide emergency funding for Kerry County Council to buy the properties.

CATU members will also be attending the council’s budget meeting tomorrow in support of the tenants.
