A Kerry TD's dangerous driving conviction will be considered by Fianna Fáil's Rules and Procedure Committee, according to the Taoiseach.
Deputy Michael Cahill was convicted of dangerous driving after a court heard he was driving at over 190kph on the M8 motorway last March.
He has been disqualified from driving for two years and fined €500.
Deputy Cahill was traveling from Leinster House to a meeting at St. Mary of the Angels in St Francis' Special School in Beaufort when the incident occurred.
He has apologised for his actions, will not appeal the conviction and will step back as a member of the Joint Oireachtas Justice Committee.
