Active travel and upgrade works in Killarney, including the replacement of a roundabout, are premature before the outer bypass to Farranfore is completed.
That’s the view of Independent Kerry TD Danny Healy-Rae, who spoke in the Dáil this morning, on the proposed N22 MD O’Shea roundabout to Ballycasheen Road Upgrade.
The project is proposed to include an upgrade of the roadsurface, as well as new and improved pedestrian and cycle facilities, along around 1.5km of the N22.
It also includes the removal of what’s known as Daly’s roundabout at the Park Road junction, and the installation of traffic lights at that junction and at other points further down towards Ballycasheen.
The scheme is currently out to public consultation, with submissions or observations to be filed with Kerry County Council by Friday at 4pm.
Speaking in the Dáil this morning, Deputy Danny Healy-Rae suggested trialling traffic lights at these locations before works are started.
Submissions and Observations with respect to the proposed development DEALING WITH PROPER PLANNING AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT in which the development would be situated, may be made in writing and clearly marked
