A Kerry TD says the government must not be allowed rush through legislation on state-led LNG facilities in Ireland.
Sinn Féin’s Pa Daly was reacting to the Strategic Gas Emergency Reserve (Amendment) Bill, which is part of the governments spring 2026 legislation programme.
In November, Kerry councillors expressed disappointment after Clare was selected as the location for Ireland’s new Strategic Gas Emergency Reserve.
Deputy Daly says the bill is a significant piece of legislation which should not be rushed through the Oireachtas without proper examination.
He believes the government should be trying to bring energy prices down rather than treating price hikes as collateral damage in it’s bid to impress US developers.
