A Kerry TD has criticised the government and the regulator for their failure to address Ireland’s rising energy prices.
Sinn Féin spokesperson on Energy, Pa Daly TD says that Irish households are being “fleeced” and “forced to pay €360 more per year for electricity than other European countries”.
This comes following a new report by the Nevin Economic Research Institute.
The report found that energy costs in Ireland have outpaced the general rate of inflation and other European countries over the last three decades.
Deputy Daly said consumers “are faced with a government who has no desire to stop it and a regulator who has been rendered powerless to.”
