A Kerry TD is calling on the government to urgently reduce the cost of driving.
Deputy Pa Daly moved a Dáil motion calling on the government to stop hikes, end the financial penalties for paying motor tax in installments, and to reverse the latest carbon tax increases on petrol and diesel.
The Sinn Féin TD described the increase on prices for fuel and insurance as "eye-watering", and that they are having huge impact on people driving to work and school.
He feels that these decisions are pricing people out of what he believes is a necessity, particularly for rural residents.
Deputy Daly has urged the government to "stand up" to insurance companies amid rising costs, stating that the annual rise in premiums are not set in stone.
