A Kerry TD has expressed frustration in the long delays during the Garda vetting process.
Garda vetting is an important safeguard in protecting the safety and welfare of children and vulnerable adults and is conducted by the National Vetting Bureau.
However, Sinn Féin TD Pa Daly feels that the government have failed to bring in legislation that would make the Garda vetting process more fit for purpose.
He had previously worked with the OPLA (Office of Parliamentary Legal Advisers) and brought forward legislation for reforms.
However, this legislation has not been introduced, and Deputy Daly is calling on the government to bring forward reforms, either from the OPLA or of their own creation.
