A Kerry MEP has called for urgent action to revitalise the EU Single Market and unlock its full potential for Irish businesses.
Sean Kelly, MEP for Ireland South, welcomes the Commission’s new strategy to cut bureaucracy and modernise rules, but stressed the need to go further
He says the Single Market is one of Europe’s greatest achievements- but it’s not working as efficiently as it should.
The Fine Gael leader in the European Parliament pointed out that Irish SMEs and service providers are particularly affected by fragmented rules and complex paperwork. “We need one system that works across the EU — not 27 slightly different ones. That’s how we create real opportunities for growth, jobs, and innovation,” he said.
“A simpler, smarter Single Market will help Irish exporters reach new customers, cut costs for businesses, and make the EU more competitive globally. Now is the time to get it done,” he concluded.
