A gorse fire at Kerry Head on Saturday evening has been described as senseless and devastating.
Fianna Fáil councillor Michael Leane from Ballyheigue says the fires need to stop now.
Strong winds brought the blaze very close to houses, and several units of the Kerry fire brigade had to remain on standby after it was brought under control.

Councillor Leane says burning gorse bushes is of no benefit as there's no farming or turf cutting in that area anymore:
