Kerry fire service fight North Kerry wildfire for over 16 hours
As part of the action plan to prevent future wildfires in Killarney National Park. Staff within Killarney National Park began training this week with a specialist UK company led by Rob Gazzard.

Kerry fire service fought for over 16 hours overnight to bring a large gorse fire in North Kerry under control.

The blaze burned through the areas of Knockeencreen and Loughfouder in Knocknagoshel.

Units from the Castleisland and Abbeyfeale fire brigades began tackling the fire at 20 to three yesterday afternoon and finally brought it under control by 7 o'clock this morning.

Kerry County Council reports that the fire came close to a number of houses.
