Kerry County Council has recently secured nearly €120,000 (€119,182.28) in funding to support biodiversity.
Over €93,000 (€93,199.28) has been allocated to projects in Kerry under the Local Biodiversity Action Fund (LBAF).
This funding will support ten Kerry projects, including the eradication of eight harmful non-native species, climate action training for teachers, and managing biodiversity on council-owned land.
The Local Biodiversity Action Fund (LBAF) is operated by the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) for the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

Meanwhile, Kerry County Council’s biodiversity plan received nearly €20,000 (€19,983) from the Heritage Council’s Biodiversity Action Plan Fund 2025.
This grant will fund, among other things, the installation of swift boxes, the Blue Flag initiative, bee conservation, and workshops and festivals about trees.
Finally, the Creative Ireland Fund has allocated €6,000 to Kerry County Council for talks and workshops across Kerry, and an information booklet on trees and hedgerows.
