Kerry County Council says it’s on track to achieve a 50% energy efficiency improvement by 2030.
That’s according to information provided at the recent Listowel MD meeting in response to a motion by Cllr Tom Barry.
The Sinn Féin councillor asked for the update as part of the upgrading of public lighting systems in the region.
The figures show Kerry County Council recorded an over 46% energy performance improvement on 2024.
The council stated public lighting accounts for 60% of its overall electricity consumption in a year, while the PLEEP has helped reduce consumption (Public Lighting Energy Efficiency Project).
It says the projects full impact will not be evident until retrofit works are completed and 12 months of burn hours can be analysed.
