The Kerry County buildings are one step closer towards becoming a Net Zero Energy Campus.
Áras an Chontae, which uses around 650,000 kWh of electricity every year, will be generating nearly a third of it's energy on site this year.
29% of the required energy for the buildings will be produced from new PV panels.
These panels have been installed on the roofs of the Modular Office Building, the Machinery Yard Building and the Housing Building.
It's estimated that the reduction in external energy sources will be the equivalent of 34 tonnes of CO₂ every year, or the electricity needed to power 45 homes.
