A Kerry County Councillor says public meetings in the community are an effective way of countering disinformation and misinformation.
Fine Gael Councillor Tommy Griffin said a meeting he organised recently on crime prevention addressed inaccurate rumours that people seeking international protection were to be housed in Milltown.
He said it was disappointing that Kerry County Council did not send a representative.
Councillor Griffin said he and his fellow county councillors were able to clarify at the meeting that there were no such plans.
