A Kerry county councillor has said it would be disrespectful to the women of Ireland to let Conor McGregor run for President.
The Irish Times surveyed elected representatives nationwide as to whether they would support Conor McGregor being able to put his name on the ballot for the presidential election.
Fianna Fáil councillor for the Castleisland Corca Dhuibhne Municipal District Fionnán Fitzgerald was one of 188 councillors nationally who responded.
Cllr Fitzgerald says the office of the President of Ireland is a special position, and should be someone who represents all of the people of the country.
He says he couldn’t support any attempt by Conor McGregor, partly due to the civil case last year which found him liable for rape.
