A Kerry county councillor wants to see close monitoring of Ukrainians being moved out of hotels by August to make sure they don’t end up homeless.
The Government announced last week that Ukrainian refugees living in State-provided accommodation, such as hotels, will begin having their placements withdrawn from August.
In Kerry, there are currently over 6,000 Ukranians, around 2,500 of whom are in state provided accommodation.
Fianna Fáil councillor Fionnán Fitzgerald says he’s concerned individuals may slip through the cracks of the system and end up homeless, if the process is not monitored closely.
He says he is in favour of winding down state supports and the return of accommodation to the tourism sector.
