A medal won in Kerry’s first All-Ireland Football title success has been sold at auction.
It was one of a number of historical items and memorabilia which went under the hammer with Fonsie Mealy Auctioneers this week.
The medal from Kerry’s first football All-Ireland win in 1903 was sold for €8,000,


while a medal from their back to back success in 1904, went for €6,000.

Meanwhile, a prototype of the Liam McCarthy Cup was auctioned off for €8,000.

Among the other items which went under the hammer, was one of only 100 copies of Seams Heaney’s signed copies of his “Squarings” poem collection – which was bought for €2,700.
