The housing charity Threshold says it prevented over 250 children in Kerry from becoming homeless last year.
The findings were released recently along with the charity’s annual report for the year.
Threshold says it prevented homelessness for more children in Kerry than any county in Ireland, except for Dublin, Cork, and Galway.
The charity says it supported 699 households in Kerry last year, while it supported 927 adults and 676 children.
Just under 500 of its cases last year were new cases.
Threshold says it prevented 231 households in Kerry from entering homelessness in 2025.
It says it helped to stop 306 adults in the county from becoming homeless last year, and 267 children.
It said there are 482 at-risk households in Kerry which it worked with last year, with 682 adults in Kerry in at-risk cases, and 50 children.
Threshold was more active in Kerry last year than any county in Ireland except for Dublin, Cork, and Galway.
Kerry ranked fourth for the most people and households supported, and most households and people prevented from becoming homeless.
Threshold says termination of tenancies is still the main reason people come forward to contact them.
New rental rules came into effect in March, aimed at strengthening security of tenancy for renters.
In its annual report, Threshold says this is the most substantial enhancement of tenant security in the state’s history, but steep increases could undermine this as rents rebase to market rents.
