Kenmare Municipal District councillors have offered their thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of a missing Kenmare farmer.
Michael 'Mike' Gaine was last seen at Whyte's Centra, Kenmare, just before 10 am on Thursday, 20th March.
At today's Kenmare MD meeting, Councillor Dan McCarthy thanked the community, volunteers, and council, especially Kenmare Fire Brigade and the Civil Defence, for their efforts in searching for Mike Gaine.
He said their efforts have gone above and beyond.
Councillor Johnny Healy Rae thanked the Gardaí, Kerry Mountain Rescue, and the staff at Kenmare Mart for supporting the search.
He described Mr Gaine as a larger-than-life character and expressed hope that he will return home to his wife and sisters soon.
Councillor Teddy O'Sullivan Casey also offered prayers, saying that it has been a very tough week for the town.
He commended the community for rallying together to assist in the search, describing their efforts as "unbelievable."
Councillors Norma Moriarty and Tommy Cahill also said their thoughts were with Mr Gaine's family.
The bronze-coloured Toyota RAV4, which the 56-year-old drove to the shop to buy phone credit, was later found parked back in his farmyard in Carrig East.
The car's registration is 152-KY-366.
Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone with information, including video footage or photos from the area, to come forward.
