Kenmare councillor urges people not to speculate online and be considerate of Michael Gaine’s family
Michael Mike Gaine was seen on CCTV on Thursday morning, March 20th 2025

A Kenmare councillor has appealed for sensitivity for the family of Michael Gaine.

It comes as a man in his 50s has been arrested for questioning in relation to Mr Gaine’s murder.

The 56-year-old farmer was reported missing from his home outside Kenmare last March; the case was upgraded to a homicide investigation in late April.

Mike Gaine's dismembered remains were discovered while slurry was being spread on the farmland in Carrig East in May.

His friend and Fine Gael councillor for the Kenmare Municipal District, Teddy O’Sullivan Casey is urging the public to allow gardaí do their work.

He’s appealing to people not to comment online regarding the developments, and to be considerate and mindful of Michael Gaine’s family and friends:
