Kerry County Council is considering selling ready-to-build serviced sites in the Kingdom at a discount.
A spokesperson for the council told Radio Kerry News that it is currently looking at various locations for such sites.
They would be serviced with electricity, water, and wastewater connections.
The Croí Cónaithe Ready-to-Build Scheme allows would-be homeowners to buy a site from a local authority, on which to build their own home.
Local authorities sell these sites with reductions of up to €30,000 below the market value.
Council lands in Cahersiveen have been identified and are being progressed.
Details of the application procedure will be published closer to the release of the scheme.
First-time and ‘Fresh Start’-buyers, those with disabilities, older people, and those who want to live in a town or village will be prioritised.
Applicants may only purchase one site under the scheme and the newly built home must be their principal primary residence.
