An Ireland South MEP has called on government MEPs to explain their anti-housing vote in Europe.
Sinn Féin MEP Kathleen Funchion has criticised Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael MEPs for opposing a proposal to exclude social housing investment from EU budget limits.
Funchion says the move could unlock more funding for public and affordable housing in Ireland.
Despite Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael’s opposition, the measure was passed by a majority in the European Parliament.
MEP Funchion says that Sinn Féin will continue to push for sensible EU reforms that allow greater investment in housing.
