An Ireland South MEP has called for a ban to anonymous social media accounts in the EU.
Billy Kelleher made the plea during a European Parliament debate on cyber bulling.
The Fianna Fáil MEP says measures need to be introduced, adding an ID for users needs to be stored and verified by platforms.
He says keyboard warriors and those from outside the EU should stop trying to impose their country’s legal system onto Europe.
MEP Kelleher stated as a society the serious harm caused by anonymous social media accounts and cyber bullying must be stopped.
