Children in overcrowded classes are being left down by the government, according to the country’s largest teachers’ union.
The Irish National Teachers’ Organisation is holding its annual congress in Killarney until tomorrow.
The INTO represents over 53,000 primary and post-primary teachers across the island of Ireland.
Among the issues being raised at the congress is the number of children in primary school classes, and the impact that overcrowded classes have on teachers and children.
President of the INTO, Anne Horan, says the government has not followed through on commitments to bring down class sizes in this country.
