INMO balloting members regarding staffing levels at Killarney Community Nursing Unit

The Irish Nurses’ and Midwives’ Organisation is balloting members regarding staffing levels for the new Killarney Community Nursing Unit.

On Friday, HIQA announced it was granting registration to the Killarney Community Nursing Unit from today.

HIQA had denied the registration earlier this month, requesting minor works be carried out.

Industrial relations officer with the INMO Kathryn Courtney says appropriate staffing levels are vital to ensure the delivery of safe care.

She says this is particularly needed while patients are being transferred to the new unit; it’s hoped there’ll be a phased transfer from July 13th, pending outcome of ballot.

Ms Courtney says they’ve obtained enhance staffing and the INMO believes it’s appropriate its members consider this.
