HIQA has granted registration to the Killarney Community Nursing Unit as and from Monday 15th of June.
The Health and Information Quality Authority had denied the registration earlier this month, requesting that minor works be carried out in order to receive approval.
The HSE South West say following positive engagement with staff representatives, an agreed negotiated position with staff will proceed to Union ballot for approval between June 14th and 21st.
Subject to this approval, they say the phased transfer to the new unit will commence in mid-July following staff engagement and training.
The announcement has been welcomed by Fianna Fáil Deputy Michael Cahill.
