Information evening in Blennerville with view to establishing more community first responder groups

An information evening will take place in Blennerville this month with a view to establishing more community first responder groups in the county.

The importance of CPR and providing immediate assistance was highlighted after 24-year-old Seán Óg O’Sullivan collapsed at his home in Killarney last Sunday.

His heart stopped beating and his family helped save his life by performing CPR until the emergency services and Community First Responders (CFRs) arrived at the scene.

CFRs respond to cardiac arrests, cardiac chest pain and strokes.

Stephen O’Flaherty is a community engagement officer with the National Ambulance Service.

He says they are in the process of setting up first responders groups and an information event will take place in Curraheen Church on April 30th at 7.30pm.
