Minister of State Michael Healy-Rae claims the level of roads funding secured for Kerry is because of Healy-Rae support for the government.
Over €65 million in funding was announced yesterday for roads in Kerry.
It’s part of a national €1.5 billion package announced by transport minister, Darragh O’Brien, and Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
Minister of State Healy-Rae has criticised Kerry politicians, who he says inaccurately took credit for yesterday's funding announcement:
Meanwhile, Kerry Fianna Fáil TD, Michael Cahill has rejected Michael Healy-Rae's claim.
Deputy Cahill said that, during government formation talks following the 2024 general election, Minister Jack Chambers made it 'crystal clear' to Michael Healy-Rae and all other government supporting independent TDs that there would be no constituency deals.
Deputy Cahill insisted that the Taoiseach and Tánaiste made this 'crystal clear time and time again'.
He added that Minister of State Healy-Rae received no more or less than a junior ministerial job with special responsibility for forestry.
Deputy Cahill also alleged that Cahersiveen town has been ignored since Michael Healy Rae was first elected to Dáil Èireann in 2011.
The Rossbeigh TD claimed that only under this Fianna Fáil-led government that Cahersiveen and other capital projects finally received long overdue funding.
