Over €65 million in funding has been announced for roads in Kerry.
It’s part of a national €1.5 billion package announced today by Transport Minister, Darragh O’Brien and Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
It includes funding for projects including the development of the Farranfore to Killarney bypass, and works on the Dingle-Tralee road and the N70 in South Kerry.
The funding includes €659 million from exchequer capital funding, alongside €104 million under public private partnerships; and €33 million to local authorities for national road maintenance.
The announcement's been welcomed by Minister of State Michael Healy-Rae, Deputy Danny-Healy-Rae, Minister Norma Foley, TD Michael Cahill, and Senator Mike Kennelly.
Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council Michael Foley said the investment will allow the council progress many key projects.
Over €65 million in funding has been announced for roads in Kerry under today’s announcement.
This includes more than €33.6 million in national roads funding and over €31.3 million in regional roads funding in the county.
Over €9 million has been allocated for works on the N86 Tralee to Dingle Road, including at Ballynasare and Ballygarret.
€6 million has been ringfenced for the development of the N22 Farranfore to Killarney bypass, while €4.5 million has been earmarked for the N70 Blackwater Bridge to Sneem.
The funding also includes €1 million for the N69 Listowel bypass, €2.1 million for Muckross pavement overlay, €1 million for the Tralee Northern Relief Road and almost €1 million for projects in Glenbeigh.
€850,000 has been allocated for bridge rehabilitation works in Kerry.
Meanwhile, Junior Transport Minister Sean Canney says money is being allocated to Adare to ensure the Adare bypass is completed and ready to open ahead of the Ryder Cup.
