Increased security presence at Shannon Airport ahead of expected Trump Air Force One stopover

There's an increased security presence at Shannon Airport ahead of an expected stopover by a plane carrying US President Donald Trump.

It’s understood President Trump will not leave the plane, during what is expected to be a brief refuelling stop.

Shannon Airport is operating as usual this evening, however there is a noticeable increase in security in the terminal and on the road into the airport.

It’s expected Mr Trump will remain onboard the Boeing 757 plane acting as Airforce One during the brief stopover

The plane, which took off from Zurich in Switzerland at around 4:35, is accompanied by a second 757, and is the most tracked flight this evening on the Flight Radar 24 app, with over ten thousand users following it.

The 47th President is on his way back to the United States after speaking at the World Economic Forum at Davos in Switzerland.
