The High Court has rejected an environmental group’s leave to appeal a decision relating to planning permission granted for the Shannon LNG project in North Kerry.
The court ordered that the leave to appeal by Friends of the Irish Environment be dismissed.
Leave to appeal is formal permission granted by a court to allow an individual or entity challenge a judgment in a higher court.
Deputy Michael Healy-Rae has described the news as “a very significant and sensible decision for the future of our country’s energy security".
He supports a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal for North Kerry.
