Gardaí say that they cannot comment on today's media report on the Michael Gaine homocide investigation.
Reports in this morning's Sunday Independent stated that Gardaí have reconsidered their investigation with regards to the weapon that may have contributed to the death of the Kenmare man.
Speaking to Radio Kerry earlier, An Garda Síochana have stated that they cannot comment on, confirm or deny queries on specific operational details of ongoing criminal investigations.
Mr Gaine was reported missing from his farm near Carraig East on March 20th, and the investigation was upgraded to a homicide investigation in April.
The farm on Carraig East was declared a crime scene after the discovery of human remains on May 16th.
Following forensic analysis the remains were confirmed to be that of the missing man.
Gardaí continue to appeal to anyone who has information that can be of assistance in this investigation. The Garda investigation team can be contacted at Killarney Garda Station on 064 667 1160, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or speak with any member of An Garda Síochána at any Garda Station.
