Gardaí in Kerry carried out 4,180 checkpoints in the county last year.
Nationally last year, Gardaí carried out over 100,000 checkpoints; over 51,000 were mandatory intoxicant testing checkpoints, while the remainder were classed as other and truck/HGV checkpoints.
In the first two weeks of this year, Gardaí nationwide carried out more than 3,500 checkpoints and 130 of those were in Kerry.
The figures were provided by Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan following a query from Fianna Fail TD Shane Moynihan in the Dáil recently.
