Campers are advised to keep a record of all serial numbers and to keep documentation in a safe place.
Gardaí recommend that people park their camper vans in well lit areas, ensuring that hitch locks and wheel clamps are in place, and ensuring that doors and windows are locked.
People are also advised to consider installing alarms and tracking devices, which will improve the likelihood of recovering any stolen property.
Voluntarily registering your caravan on with the Central Registration and Identification scheme will also help in the recovery of any stolen property.
